About Brighter Life Supported Living

Brighter Life Supported Living is a regulated service resource for young people aged between 16-25 years of age, who are identified as LAC by the Local Authority and in need of support and accommodation as they transition into adulthood. For the young people who have been categorised as having emotional and behavioural difficulties we recognise that these young people may have various forms of challenging behaviour arising from being exploited e.g., sexually (CSE) or criminally (CCE) which may also have been compounded by other negative life experiences.

At Brighter Life Supported Living we want each young person to experience the best quality of life they can have in the care setting before moving on to their own independent living. We are a person-centred service with therapeutic input, placing an emphasis on enabling those who have been categorised as having emotional and behavioural difficulties and will rely heavily on the services provided by doctors and nurses and other health and social care providers, especially primary care to live as independently as they can. The aim of the service is to help individuals learn what it means to live appropriately in the community and become citizens who make a positive contribution to society. Brighter Life Supported Living accepts young people from diverse religious, cultural, ethnic and sexuality backgrounds including those of “Asylum-seeking” status.

Brighter Life Supported Living also offers respite care as well semi-independent training and works with the young person based on their individual needs. This is achieved through group and individual discussions, sharing experiences, helping each person to respect the other and accepting the responsibilities for their actions and providing therapeutic supported as required. The staff will ensure that everyone is made aware that they are cared for and valued through boundaries set within their safety and their presenting behaviours and the staff make it their mission to persevere in trying to help them.
